Directory for Self-employed Parents
A great way to gain exposure for your business, while supporting other self-employed parents, is to list your business in a directory. One great directory that offers FREE listings is OurMilkMoney.com. Our Milk Money is a national search directory that lists ONLY self-employed parents. They are also dedicated to helping parents who want to stay at home find financial opportunities and support.
Another directory to consider is LivingMyMOMent.com which not only offers free business listings for family run business owners, but also many other advertsing options such as: Ad Spaces, Product Reviews, Giveaways, Blogrolls, Dedicated Articles, Promotions on Facebook and Twitter and much more.
There are many other great ones out there, so start searching.
Writing articles and then submitting them to top article sites can not only position you as an expert (provided you are offering valuable content), but it can also direct traffic to your business. So which are the best sites to submit your article? Here’s a list of about 200 article submission sites to get you started.
Now this is what I call “old-school” marketing, but it works! So many businesses are clambering for attention online, that they miss those potential customers who skip over ads while perusing the internet. Creating professional flyers can be easy and very inexpensive. And placing them in high traffic areas gets your business in the eyes of many consumers. Depending on what your business offers, here are just a few places that you can place them:
- Car washes
- Auto shops
- Grocery stores
- Ice cream and coffee shops
- Daycare centers
- College campuses
- Local Welcome Wagon
- Flea markets
- Trade shows
- Local small businesses
- Car windshields (I know, annoying when you get one, but every once in awhile, you do get a good one)
While they may not be the most attractive, car signs can be very effective. Here’s my story: After buying a wooden swing set for our kids (with a bazillion pieces and confusing instructions), my husband and I were brainstorming while driving on who we could call to help set it up. Then out of nowhere comes a truck with a huge car sign that advertised that they specialized in setting up swing sets (no kidding!). You bet we called them and they did a fantastic job. Without the sign, we would never had known to call them.
There are many other ways to advertise your home business inexpensively. Do a little research and think creatively, then get out there and do it!
