A few days ago, I visited a new health foods mega-store, filled with aisles and aisles of delicious-looking healthy food. While there, I was offered a taste of a vegetarian chicken salad. After just one bite I was hooked. I left the store with a five dollar container and the fresh baked bread that was served next to it.
Have you had a similar experience? Maybe you were walking in the mall and were offered a sample of a chocolate chip cookie, with the warm, melted, sweet chocolate sticking to your fingers as you took a bite. As soon as you tasted it, you turned around and ordered a few of the freshly baked treats.
This, my fellow entrepreneur, is what I call Sample Marketing.
With so many companies that have either gone out of business or have outsourced their customer service department, it’s imperative to connect with your potential customers in an authentic and meaningful way. And one of the best ways for attracting clients like crazy is to create something of value and give it away. Yes, for FREE!
Not only does this build your “like-ability”, but it also builds your trust factor with current and potential clients.
Now, this is only successful if…
- It’s something that’s sought-after by your niche market,
- It’s valuable content that will help your potential client fill a need or solve a problem,
- It’s something that’s easy to give away (like a download or mp3…no mailings),
- It’s just a taste of what you offer and entices people to want more from you, and
- It’s FREE
When potential clients visit your website, if there isn’t something there to engage them right away, they are more likely to bounce from your site. However, if your website has an opt-in box that offers an irresistible sample of valuable content that answers a need, they are much more likely to not only stay longer on your website, but to also sign up and help to build your list.
If you’re looking for ways to attract more clients, then it’s time to create your Sample Marketing give away. It might be one of the popular articles you’ve written, a Top 10 list, a recording of an interview with a top entrepreneur in your industry, or a template or form you’ve created that would make your target market’s life easier. The possibilities are endless.
Just remember when creating your Sample Marketing plan, you want to give away something that is valuable… something that is going to help your target market fill a need or solve a problem. Ask yourself, What keeps them up at night? What do they find challenging? What would make their life easier? The answer to these questions will help you not only in creating your giveaway, but also in attracting clients like crazy.
