Hello entrepreneurs and future entrepreneurs!
Are you ready to start a home business or experience even more success in your established business? Whether you are in online marketing, coaching, direct sales or the service industry, I want to invite you to join me in my 5-Day Bootcamp to Home Business Success.
Over the next 5 days, I am going to share with you a roadmap to developing yourself and your home business to better position you to achieve success. Are you ready? Let’s begin.
Today, we are going to talk about how your thoughts can make the difference between success and failure for your home business.
When moms ask me, “How do I get started working from home?” or “Why am I not successful in my home business?” one of the first questions I ask them is, “Do you like yourself?” They usually give me a puzzled look and answer, “Yes, but what does that have to do with working from home?”
Everything we do begins with a thought. What we want to become we are now becoming. What we believe, what we say to ourselves, what we think about ourselves—it all shapes who we are and who we become. A very wise man once said, as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.
So what do you think about yourself? What does your self-talk sound like? Do you speak as if you’re confident that your home business will succeed?
If you get turned down by a potential customer, do you blame the marketing system, or demean your abilities? What thoughts come to mind first? How many times have you thought something like this: “I don’t think this type of business is right for me,” or “I don’t have the right personality for this.”
If you were to take two sheets of paper and on one sheet record all of the positive things you think about yourself and on the other sheet all of the negative things you think about yourself, which list would be longer? What are you telling yourself?
If what you’re telling yourself is not building you up, then the actions that follow your thoughts, the actions you take in your daily life, are not building you up either and consequently, they are not building up your business. Do you already see yourself as a successful business builder, a successful leader?
Do you already have a detailed picture in your head of what your business will look like when you reach your goal? Including the amount of income you’re bringing in, how much time you’re devoting to your work each day, what you’re doing each day, the number of reps or consultants on your team.
If you want to get more clients or sponsor more consultants or reps, your success doesn’t begin with taking more action (i.e., adding more Facebook friends, calling more leads, handing out more flyer, etc.). Your success begins with what you think about yourself. You have to first see yourself as a leader. Talk about yourself as a star recruiter. Talk with confidence and self-assurance.
So to get you started in thinking your way to success, I’m going to ask you to do some self-work here. I have two challenges for you:
Challenge 1: Grab two sheets of paper. Label one sheet Negative Talk and label the other sheet Positive Talk. Then for two full days, I want you to keep track of all of your self-talk, whether you say it verbally or just think it. Only you will see this list, so please be completely honest with yourself.
At the end of each day, take a look at your lists. Which sheet is longer? Become aware of what you say to yourself. To help you avoid staying in the negative, turn each negative statement around to a positive:
“I don’t know how to market” becomes: “I am learning how to better market”
“My business isn’t growing” becomes: “I am taking the necessary steps to help grow my business”
“I haven’t sponsored enough reps” becomes: “I haven’t sponsored enough reps…yet”
Continue to work on this area, consistently, and you’ll begin to see results.
Challenge 2: I want you to find some inspirational quotes, passages, scriptures whatever you can find that will build you up. Post these in places you can see them every morning, throughout the day and every evening. If you can find inspirational or motivational cd’s to listen to, please buy or borrow them. Play them every day – morning and night. Read your posts so often and listen to your cd’s so much that you can repeat every word of them from memory.
This is a great start to thinking your way to home business success.
